How to Replace an Orbbec Sensor

The article will explain how to replace Orbbec sensors on an SS20.

  • Make sure to power down the system and ground yourself before proceeding.
  • The bottom sensors 1, 2, 11, and 12 have one large open, and when positioned, they should be pointed downward.
  1. Hang the alignment board in the booth. 1 – 10 face the monitor, and 11 – 20 face the back.
  2. Unscrew the faulty sensor and secure it to the frame, like the image below.
  3. Repeat step 2 for all sensors being replaced.
  4. Write down the new sensor's serial number and the position on the frame that will be replaced.
  5. Disconnect the bad sensors USB connector from the Active USB cable
  6. Unscrew the screw and remove the sensor.
  7. Screw the new sensors like the image above.
  8. Connect the new sensor USB connector to the Active USB cable.
    1. Repeat steps 5 – 8 for all sensors being replaced.
  9. Power on the computer.
  10. Check the Windows device manager.
  11. Expand the Orbbec tree. Is there a total of 20 sensors?
    1. Yes, proceed to step 12
    2. If not, check if all cables are connected and secure.
  12. Secure all sensors to the frame if all 20 sensors are detected.
  13. Navigate to the following directory, "C:\ProgramData\Size Stream\Size Stream Scanner\Assignment Files"
  14. Make a copy of the assignment.cfg file
  15. Open the assignment.cfg file as a notepad. The sensor's serial numbers are listed from 1 -20 from top to bottom.
  16. Update the list with the new sensors' serial numbers corresponding to their frame location.
    1. Delete the bad sensor serial number
    2. Type in the new sensor's serial number.
  17. Save the file
